Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Adobe Illustrator installed?▼
No. AI files are parsed and converted entirely in the browser without Adobe software.
What AI file versions are supported?▼
AI files saved with 'PDF Compatibility' enabled (AI CS2 / version 8 and later) are supported, as these embed PDF content that can be parsed. Older AI files without PDF compatibility may not convert correctly.
Why convert AI to SVG?▼
SVG is the open web standard for vector graphics — supported by all browsers, CSS, JavaScript, and open-source tools. AI is Adobe's proprietary format that requires Illustrator to open natively.
Are all Illustrator features preserved?▼
Standard paths, shapes, fills, strokes, and gradients are preserved. Complex Illustrator-specific effects, 3D extrusions, and raster effects embedded in the AI may not fully convert.
Is the conversion done in the browser?▼
Yes. AI file parsing and SVG export happen locally. No file is uploaded to any server.
